Life is Moving Faster

Hey there sports fans, Al here with the latest:
Well as it turns out there is only about a week to go before the art comes down from the DIVE IN! art show at NWIPA. AND REALLY there is nothing else I can say except -DAMN, UNBELIEVABLE!
I mean seriously.
In a one months span of time three original pieces sold and several prints of various work as well.

"Last Monster on EARTH!" 11"x14" This piece was the first one to sell for the show for the DIVE IN! Art Show. This sold before the official opening of the show even began. Freaked me out!

WHAT?!

I was stoked and I couldn't even begin to comprehend what was happening as I greeted several friends and explained the show and the work.

This wasn't even Richard Parker! And yet I knew that this was a strong piece and I needed to fill wall space.

After talking to the couple that bought the piece I could totally tell that it was going to a good place and the husband really really liked it. We talked about the sci-fi influence of where the laser guns came from (Soldier) and when I told him where his face lighted up and said "I just got done watching that Old Outer Limits episode! I've been watching the DVD's"

"The Descent of Richard Parker" was the second to sell during the opening Again very cool. I also knew the people and where this piece is going in their home.

And on top of that this was one of the Richard Parker pieces as well. Of course my favorite piece didn't sell yet but that's okay but I hope that it will here as time goes on.

The third on the list was the original fan art piece of Captain Kirk from the original Star Trek series. The piece was made originally for the ICON show here in Portland last year but never seemed to grab anybodies attention. I guess he did this year. I was just trying to capture that perfect Shatner in his classic Kirk pose with ripped shirt just after a fight with a Gorn and the Orion Slave Girl in the background.

Of course this piece was being purchased as a wedding present for some gentleman's friends. I laughed as well as being happy that he got a home within the next week.

Now mind you all of this show has exceeded my hopes more than any other show has in last couple of years with one notable exception that took place nearly 6 years ago or so when I thought I was going to have to throw in the towel on comic book art work.
As it turns out there is about another week left to go on this show but it will not be soon forgotten.
On top of that there is also INKTOBER!
Now if you're not aware of what this is then you should do a search on the internet for inktober. You will probably find tones of artwork there.

THE IDEA IS that several artists around the world or at least the USA try to do a inked image a day for the whole of October. Now this can be very daunting to several people but that's the idea! Can you as an

artist make a complete image in pen and ink AND post it that day.
When my friends had told me about this last year I was down. It was hard at first but I started to use it as a spring board for the new pieces for the BIG 500 and other shows so some of these images are going to be used for that.

Inktober isn't even done yet... I still have another image to crank out today on top of the Cryptids work I am doing.

Today's piece is going to be Loch Ness Monster.

THE CRYPTIDS is a small collection of seminal local monster legends that have been around for centuries for unexplained goings on and the like the world wide.

When I was talkng to my girlfriend Beth about this she thought that this would be a perfect example of taking my love of horror and the weird that is me and put it into a collection that people could get behind for buying for the holidays.

I liked the idea. Again the story ideas of the comics just wasn't happening and now I had been shown that prints were selling at places around town pretty regularly on a weekly basis so why not make a small series of prints based on that paranormal concept.

There is much more to come as in the shape of classic 50's and 60's robots of popular culture and spaceships of the same era.

Be looking for it and them.

AND NOW SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!
One of the thing that has always bugged me about selling art work is how do you and what do you print your artwork on?
Well t-shirts have always been something that has intrigued me for years. Even growing up and watching the whole skate boarding craze get even bigger now and becoming a brand name for clothing and other products other than the skateboards themselves I thought to myself "Man, if I could get into that kind of stuff I'd be making bank!"
Of course that was my 17 year old self thinking that but now 31 years later I know the designs I have are good and they do sell so why the hell not put them out there?
I haven't got anything to loose.
And now t-shirts are available as well

And as always there are places for you to check out as well.

And of course I still have my comics that I have worked on here at Indyplanet.

And mind you there is website
and the facebook page

The Website also has some new stuff added for the comic books featuring Corpse Cop.

And with that this kid is outta of here I got work to do.

And that's it for the kid for now and I am outta of here.
